Oh this is unbelievable... ;-)
Forgive me for being slow -- I know others of you have already found this out the hard way -- but I just discovered that one of our databases, coded in 4.55, now has a screwed-up feature since we upgraded some time back to Notes 5.05.
The feature in question is some basic code that exports a view (using the relevant @Command) in Lotus 1-2-3 format. Nothing fancy.
Anyway, users were getting an error "Import/Export not configured." I looked it up in the knowledgebase, and found this wee gem, document #182665:
"In Notes 5.0.5 Client the parameter syntax for importing or exporting to a Lotus 123 file was intentionally changed from 'Lotus 1-2-3 Spreadsheet' to 'Lotus 1-2-3'."
For he love of Pete, WHY MAKE THIS CHANGE? How pointless was this? Apparently it was for the sake of consistency -- some other types were changed also. Jeez, since when was "consistency" on the agenda??
I'm still shaking my head in disbelief... I think Iris have some fairly major fixes to implement in the Notes client, so why not concentrate on them, rather than irksome tweaks like this?
Ahem. Rant over.
(BTW, you can work around it by updating the users' INI file -- search the forum for the settings -- but still...)
