RE: Daily mail.box compact never finished... Mike Blake 22.Dec.99 04:39 PM a Web browser Domino Server -- Router Release 5
I was experiencing the same problem running R5.01 on AIX 4.3.1 (2 processors) and upgraded to R5.02a. The problem still occurs about every other night. The router shuts down and mailbox compaction begins but never finishes. I come in in the morning to find one of the two mail.boxes pileded up with several hundred messages. The router will not respond to commands and the server has to be rebooted to resolve the situation. (This situation was not prevalent a couple months ago when I was running R5.0a software on NT with an evening backup schedule)
We do run daily backups which often run past 4:00 a.m. (the time the compaction would normally kick off) so I suspect there may be some causality there. However, there have been nights where the compaction kicked off well after 4:00 and completed successfully.
I remember on R4 you could specify the time that mail.box compacted but I can't seem to find where this is specified in the R5 server config. I'd like to move the compaction to something like 10 P.M. Does anyone know where to specify this???
