We have our outbound SMTP server configured to hold any undeliverable email so that we do not get Spam blacklisted for backscatter due to NDR. Some of the email that get's held is for our users when they try to send an email outside the company but have it addressed incorrectly. We release this email by using the Release Selected Held Messages For a Final Time. An NDR back to our user is created for the email delivery problem and it is transferred to another server that is then responsible for delivering the NDR to our users mail file. This is where the problem starts. The email is deposited into the secondary servers mail box but it becomes DEAD mail. The Recipient field is correctly addressed to our user and when we try to release the message using Release Selected Dead Message to Recipients nothing happens, the email remains DEAD. This secondary server is also configured to Hold Undeliverable email, but I have tried changing this to disabled to see if it helped but it didn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
