How about the following, which works for me:
Sub Click(Source As Button)
Dim ws As New notesuiworkspace
Dim uidoc As notesuidocument
Dim doc As notesdocument
Set uidoc = ws.CurrentDocument
Set doc = uidoc.Document
doc.Fruit = "Mango"
Call doc.Save( True, True )
Call uidoc.Close
Set uidoc = ws.EditDocument (False, doc)
End Sub
