A limit can be applied to the number of attendees who can register for an event.
This limit can be set for each individual event or it can be defined at the brand level.
For example, the maximum number of participants supported for any one event is 999.
However, a lower maximum limit can be specified in the brand.
Therefore, the limit could be changed during event creation to specify any number less than the default, or both the default and the brand specification (should this have been specified).
Now, there are two types of registrations available to the Event creator:
- Required approval
- Automatic approval
The limit defined applies to both registration types.
If the limit is set for required approval, then an unlimited number of participants can register for the event until the host approves the number of participants up to the limit, then registration closes.
If the limit is set for automatic approval, then the first number of participants up to the limit are approved, then registration closes.
To check the limit as well as who has registered, then one can select the “Who has registered?” option.
Also, if a user attempts to register, but the maximum attendee limit has already been reached, then they will receive a message indicating as such.
If the Event modifier wishes to change the limit to a higher number (assuming the above requirements with regards to limit specification), then this action will just allow for more users to register until the new limit is method.
Conversely, if the limit is lowered below the number of registered attendees, then none of those pre-registered attendees will be dropped from the approved list unless the Event modifier opts to do so via manual action. Regardless of this, the Event modifier will be notified immediately should they attempt to lower the limit below that of the currently registered attendees.
In addition, it is also possible to change the Registration approval method.
For example, if the approval method was set to Manual Approval but was then changed to Automatic Approval, then all registered users will automatically be approved regardless of the status of all currently registered attendees. The Event modifier will be warned of the impact of this change when attempting to modify the setting.
