To add new users in a hybrid environment, you first register the new user in an on-premises IBM® Lotus® Domino® directory. Next, you provision the user with the IBM SmartCloud™ Notes® subscription.

This procedure does not transfer on-premises mail files to the service. For information on transferring mail files during user provisioning, see the topic "Provisioning existing users and mail files in a hybrid environment."
    1. Registering a new user on-premises
In order to provision a user in a hybrid environment, the user must be registered in an on-premises IBM Lotus Domino directory. If a user you are provisioning is new at your company, perform the steps in this procedure to register the user on-premises.

    2. Provisioning users in a hybrid environment
Provisioning a user adds an IBM SmartCloud Notes subscription to a user account and creates a mail file for the user on a mail server in the service. You can also add optional subscriptions purchased by your company.
