When joining a meeting using a Google Chrome web browser, a pop-up window appears with the message that the IBM SmartCloud Sametime WebPlayer extension is being disabled. The Sametime WebPlayer plug-in allows for audio and screen capture, so other symptoms of this problem are that you cannot do the following when using Chrome:
- Cannot join an audio conference for SmartCloud Meetings (New)
- Cannot take a screen capture when using the Web chat client
This behavior occurs due to a change in Chrome. As announced by Google, new releases of Chrome will automatically block NPAPI based plug-ins. For more information, see Known Issue "Chrome users not able to join PC Audio conference or are not able to perform Screen Capture (143335)".
Therefore, there are restrictions, noted in the System Requirements, when using meetings if you choose to use Chrome as your web browser:
- Chrome restrictions for Meetings: no application/desktop sharing or audio/video conferencing.
- Chrome supports attending meetings and sharing files from the Meeting Library.
If you need to share your screen or use the meeting's audio or video, you should switch to a browser that supports those functions.
