|Configure a default mail template to be used with IBM SmartCloud® Notes® mail files.
IBM SmartCloud Notes
) provides a mail file template catalog from which to choose templates to apply to user mail files. You can choose from a list of standard templates or design a custom template to add to the catalog. Mail file templates are applied to user mail files during SmartCloud Notes
user provisioning. The mail file template can also be changed after provisioning.

In this exercise, you will:
- Discover what mail file templates may be applied to user mail files.
- Configure the default mail file template.
A mail template contains only the design of the mail database. In other words, it contains all of the features and functionality of the mail file application without any of the data.
To add or register a user on to the system.

1. Log on to https://www.ibmcloud.com/social
using the e-mail address and password of a user with the Administrator role.
2. If your SmartCloud Notes
account also has the User role, click Administration
-> Manage Organization
at the top of the dashboard.
3. From SmartCloud Notes
Administration, click Lotus Notes
-> Mail Templates
4. To select a mail template to apply to new user accounts by default, click Standard Mail Templates
, select a template, and select Actions
-> Set as default
Although not required, you also have the option to download a template to make design changes to it. If you choose to make design changes to the template, you must submit the template to ISSC for approval before it can be applied to user mail files. This process is outside of the scope of this training.
5. Click Confirm Set New Default
to apply the change.
6. To verify that the new default mail template has been applied click Default Mail Template
and note the new template name.
How can I view the mail template currently assigned to a user?
Click the user's name in the SmartCloud Notes
Administration Panel, Users' page. Look in the Mail Template
You have developed a new template in house but cannot see any option in SmartCloud Notes to upload this template for use.
ISSC will validate the template design to ensure that it will work successfully in the SmartCloud Notes environment.
You have previously engaged ISSC and a new custom template was available. You have accidentally deleted this custom template from the system. What should you do?
During this engagement, ISSC will revalidate the template design to ensure that it will work successfully in the SmartCloud Notes environment.
