|In this exercise, you will learn how to set a filter to allow or deny mail from specific addresses.
® for Social Business (SmartCloud for Social Business) allows the filtering of inbound internet mail, by address, to control receipt of mail. Administrators may set filters by individual address or address groupings, and either allow or deny mail from these addresses.

® Administration Account Settings:
- Change the default behavior of newsletter delivery and block newsletters from delivery or deliver them to the Junk folder
- Customize the service spam filter by allowing spam to be delivered to the Inbox or the Junk folder
- Allow messages that match a specific sender filter to be blocked, delivered to the Inbox, or delivered to the Junk folder
- Enable Junk Mail Reports that are sent to users and that list all email that is added to the Junk folder
- Enable a Report as Spam menu option that makes it easy for users to report spam

|Filter||A control on an internet address or addresses for the purpose of allowing or denying receipt of mail|
- Log on to the service using the e-mail address and password of an IBM SmartCloud Notes (SmartCloud Notes) user with the Administrator role.
- If your account also has the User role, click Administration -> Manage Organization . Otherwise, skip this step.
- From the left navigation pane, click Lotus Notes.
- Click Account Settings.
- Click Email Filters.
- Perform the following steps to create each filter you want to use:
- Click Add New Filter.
- Select Allow and type a filter name.
- Type at least one sender address or address expression. To separate multiple entries, press Enter or type a comma. Click OK.
- The new filter will be saved with a green check mark icon. Click Add New Filter.
- Select Block and type a descriptive filter name. In the Sender addresses box, type an address to block. Click OK.
- Your new filters will display but will not yet be active.
- The following table shows examples of addresses and address expressions allowed in filters.
- To move a filter to a different location in the list, drag the filter or use the arrows. If you create multiple filters and more than one matches the address of a sender, the first filter in the list that matches is applied to e-mail from the sender.
- Click Save Changes.
- Result: The changes take effect immediately.
- The following examples illustrate evaluation of filters.
- The following filter blocks email sent from the individual addresses email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
- The following filter blocks email from any subdomain of renovations.com, for example, email from email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. It does not block email from the parent domain, for example, from email@example.com.
- The following filter allows all email from the renovations.com domain.
- The following filters block email from firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com but allow all other email from the renovations.com domain. The filters are shown in the required order in the Email Filters window.
