Overview

In IBM SmartCloud Notes (SmartCloud Notes), certain policy settings are enabled by default. These cover the functional areas of the product related to security and performance.

The Policy Synopsis Tool in the Lotus® Domino® Administrator client can be used by on-premises administrators to determine policy settings for SmartCloud Notes users.

Objectives

In this exercise, you will:
  • Explore pre-defined policy settings for SmartCloud Notes users in a hybrid environment

Glossary

TermDefinition
Organizational policyAn organizational policy automatically applies to all users registered in a particular organizational unit.
Explicit policyAn explicit policy assigns default settings to individual users or groups.
Pre-defined policyA policy that is pre-defined by default for SmartCloud Notes users. The pre-defined policy settings configure default security and performance options for SmartCloud Notes users.
Policy synopsis toolThe Policy Synopsis tool is a tool that allows administrators to determine the effective policy governing a selected user. Note: the Policy Synopsis tool will be covered in more detail in Exercise 2.2: Creating policies for SmartCloud Notes users to mirror your policies for on-premises users.
