End users who are subscribed to one or several components of IBM Connections Cloud (Connections Cloud).
You use a web browser to access Connections Cloud apps including but not limited to: Mail and calendar, Files, Communities, Meetings, Document Editors and instant messaging. Depending on the offering(s) your company has purchased, you may access one, some or all of the apps with a web browser. Refer to System Requirements to view a list of supported web browsers: http://www.ibm.com/cloud-computing/social/us/en/systemrequirements/
Logging in to Connections Cloud from a browser
On the Connections Cloud web front click "Sign In" at the top right of the page.
Log into the Connections Cloud service using your Connections Cloud service E-mail address and password.
Result: You arrive at your Connections Cloud Dashboard.
Note: It is possible that your Connections Cloud account is configured so that you have access to the Connections Cloud service after logging into your company network. The points below describe this scenario:
- You log into your company's system first and you are NOT reauthenticated when you start to use the Connections Cloud service from a web browser.
- If you try to access Connections Cloud before logging into your company's network, you are redirected in the browser, to log in to your company's network with your organization's login page rather than the Connections Cloud login page
- You can click "Use My organization's Login page" at the IBM Connections Cloud login page and your browser opens a page where you enter the needed credentials for logging into your company network (company login page and requirements are unique to your company)
- One possible configuration is for users to be set up to have the choice to authenticate with your company's network (use organization's login page) or to authenticate with Connections Cloud (use Connections Cloud Login page).
When you are logged into the Connections Cloud service, you are automatically logged in to all the components in the service to which you are subscribed. For example, when you arrive at your Dashboard, you can access Mail, Meetings and instant messaging, without logging in to each of them separately. One login with your browser is good for all. (Restarting your browser and a browser session timing out would require logging in again.)
Logging in for the first time
Logging in for the first time varies slightly depending on the Connections Cloud component(s) to which you are subscribed.
First time login by registration email from the service:
You may receive an email containing a link to a registration page after your account is created by your administrator
Click that (unique, one time use) link and complete the registration process.
Note: You might also be asked to create a password
After your registration is submitted, you can log into Connections Cloud by accessing the Connections Cloud web front at the url: www.ibmcloud.com/social
. From there, you click "Sign In" and you are presented with the Connections Cloud Login where you enter your E-mail address and password, submitted at registration.
First time login after administrator communicates login credentials:
You may receive an email from your administrator that contains your login credentials, a temporary password (one time use) and an instruction to access the Connections Cloud webfront page at the url: www.ibmcloud.com/social
Click "Sign In" and enter your E-mail and temporary password. You are asked to change your one-time-use temporary password to your permanent password.
Once you click "Submit" you have your login credentials; the E-mail address and password that you will use every time you log into Connections Cloud from a browser.
Important: You must log in and change a temporary password within 30 days of the account creation.
Changing your password
Once you are up and running, as a user of the Connections Cloud service, you may change your own password. You do NOT have authority to change your E-mail address, which is your Account Identity.
To change your own password:
Click your name in your Dashboard
Click My Account Settings
Locate the Password setting and click change.
Alternatively, you may click Forgot Password? on the Connections Cloud Login page.
What to do if you forget your password
Click Forgot password on the Connections Cloud login page
Result: Instructions for how to reset your own password are sent to the Email address you use to login to Connections Cloud. However, if your login email address is the email address location where you will receive the instructions, you are not able to get to your email inbox. In that case, contact your Administrator and/or help desk, who have the ability to reset your password for you. That person who resets should communicate to you the new temporary password. Once you know it, you will use the temporary password for one logon only, and you are then prompted to reset your password to something of your own choosing. You must change the temporary password within 30 days of the reset.
