This video shows you the power of profiles, how to invite poeple to be network contacts, and how to invite guests to collaborate. The video duration is approximately 4 minutes and contains audio.

Welcome to Connecting with Colleagues and Clients. Whether you are working together within your organization or collaborating across teams outside of the organization, IBM SmartCloud Engage can help you connect with others and meet your goals.

Table 2. The Power of Profiles

2.1Dina Maroni is an Office Manager for Renovations. She is new to SmartCloud Engage. She begins by editing her profile.
  1. The My Dashboard page of SmartCloud is displayed.
  2. From the People menu, select My Profile.
  3. Click Edit My Profile.
2.2Dina adds her picture to her profile so people can get to know her. Her picture will let others begin to recognize her across the organization and network.
  1. Under the current profile picture, click Change. The Upload A Photo dialog box opens.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. Locate and select the appropriate picture. Click Open.
  4. Click Upload.
2.3Dina adds her job title to the profile, then describes her business skills, responsibilities, services, associations, and expertise in the About Me section.
  1. Under Contact Information, in the Job Title field, enter the appropriate job title.
  2. Under About Me, in the About Me field, enter the appropriate personal description.
  3. Click Save Changes.
2.4Tags are key words that people use to search profiles. Dina adds key words or tags in her profile that describe her tasks, expertise, and skills. Tagging her profile increases the likelihood that people will find her when they do a tag cloud search for people with specific skills, expertise, and experience.
  1. Under Tags, in the Tags field, enter any appropriate tag for your profile.
  2. Click the Add icon. The tags are added to the Tag list.
  3. To view the tags as a cloud, click Cloud.
  4. To return to the List view, click List.
2.5Profiles make it easy to find people and start connecting. For example, Dina needs to connect with an accounting expert in the company. She clicks a tag from the tag list. It looks like there are several accounting experts. Let's select one, Matt Ayer.
  1. In the Tag list, click the appropriate tag. Profiles with that tag are displayed.
  2. Select the appropriate Profile.

Dina decides to invite Matt to be a network contact. When she invites him to join her network and he accepts, she can then share full profile information with him. She will also be able to share communities of interest and include Matt on her list of chat contacts. When she updates her profile, Matt will receive an update. And when Matt updates his profile, she will receive an update.
  1. The profile of Matt Ayer is displayed.
  2. Click the Invite to My Network link. After a moment he accepts the invitation.

3.2Dina checks My Dashboard to see updates on what people in her organization and her network have been doing. She can also find out about the status of her network contact invitations.

  2. The Invitations and Requests area is displayed showing a contact that she has invited to join her network.
3.2She'll know if someone is already in her network when she sees the network contact label next to their name in her contact list.

  2. From the People menu, click Contacts. Current network contacts are labeled as a Network Contact.

4.1Dina can invite anyone outside to collaborate inside SmartCloud Engage, for free. This is a great way to share information easily with customers, vendors, and business partners.
  1. Dina Maroni's My Dashboard page is displayed.
  2. Click the Username drop-down.
  3. Select Invite a guest.
  4. In the Name fields, enter the appropriate name.
  5. In the email field, enter the appropriate email address.
  6. Click Send.
4.2Guests are automatically added to her contacts.
  1. From the People menu, select Contacts.
  2. The person that was just sent an invitation, has automatically been added to the Contact list.
4.3In SmartCloud Engage or SmartCloud Connections, Dina's guests can join meetings, take surveys, read and comment on files, create and participate in communities and activities, use profiles to build their network, and invite guests of their own.
  1. Dina Maroni's My Dashboard page is displayed.
  2. An open meeting is displayed.
  3. A survey request is displayed.
  4. The My Files page is displayed.
  5. A shared file page is displayed.
4.4When Dina shares files with people outside SmartCloud Engage, they are automatically invited to be guests.
  1. The Share File dialog box is displayed with information for someone who is not a SmartCloud user.
  2. Click Share. The Content Was Not Shared dialog box opens.
  3. Click Proceed with invitations. The Invite Guest page opens.
  4. Click Save.
4.5When a file is shared, her guest will receive a notification on their newsfeed.
  1. The My Dashboard page for Craig Collins is displayed.
  2. A notification is displayed under News Feeds, letting him know that Dina Maroni has shared a file with him.
4.6Guests who become network contacts get to share the same level of profile information as paid subscribers.

  2. Click a network contact's name to open their profile.
