Best Practice Makes Perfect

A collaboration with Domino developers about how to do it and how to get it right in Domino

I note with some amusement that a reward has been offered to the first person who tracks down or creates a solution for exporting the documents in a categorized view to a set of hierarchical folders and text files ($350 Reward for Solution to Export Notes Databases to Filesystem ). In case any of my faithful readers are out there tonight with nothing better to do (a situation, alas, I fear may be common), it doesn't sound that hard to do with a little LotusScript. I'd go for it except that (a) I don't want to compete with our business partners, and (b) the odds seem too high that someone would beat me to it. Besides, (c) the "legality" of it, according to IBM guidelines, seems uncertain.

You might try posting a response saying that if nobody posts a solution, you'll do it if he commits to you rather than expecting everyone to work in parallel on the same goal.

Just a thought.

Those were my thoughts exactly using a bit of MkDir and ExtractObject jiggery-pokery in LS.

Maybe you need a pseudonym to be able to work on these sorts of things without fear of breaking any IBM agreements? Step forward Mr Andrew Guirardson :-)
