Best Practice Makes Perfect

A collaboration with Domino developers about how to do it and how to get it right in Domino

In case you try to follow the link to "Things I Wrote" on the sidebar, it's temporarily out of order. That site is hosted by Comcast, and they have no idea when it will be working. They would not commit to any timeline, even when I suggested three months. They just did a major upgrade to their personal webpage service, and they tell me this caused the breakage of "random" customers' web pages.

One assumes a change of this magnitude would have been vetted on a test server before rolling it out to apparently millions of customers, but they seem to have missed something.

I requested a refund for the period of the outage, but they don't plan to provide one. They say they consider email and webpages a "free" service, but when I asked to continue using their email and webpages at no cost while switching to another ISP, they refused. So in my opinion, it is not a free service, but part of the package which they advertise and which I pay for. I wonder whether anyone will start a class-action suit.

I mention all this in case anyone is trying to decide between Comcast broadband service and a competing ISP. It might be a consideration for you, from a reliability and customer service perspective.
