The portal applications catalog in Lotus Notes and Lotus Expeditor contains portal applications on the IBM® WebSphere® Portal Server to which you have access, and all the composite applications installed on the system. You can create and delete portal applications, open any application, and reload, uninstall, or open a diagnostic report about any application already installed on the system. The portal applications catalog is organized by category, portal applications can belong to more than one category.
To access the portal applications catalog, click Open > Portal Applications. Portal Applications is added to the Open menu if your home portal account is configured or there are composite applications installed on your system other than the three Lotus Notes default applications (Mail/Calendar/Todo, Contact and Notebook). To configure a home portal account, click File > Preferences > Home Portal Account. Fill out all the information in this panel, then click OK.
When the portal applications catalog is opened, the categories are listed in the Application Categories view on the left. The All category lists the public portal applications and portal applications that list you as a member, and the composite applications installed on your system. This is the default catalog. Other categories list the portal applications. The Public category displays all portal applications that are available to all authenticated users. The My category displays the portal applications that list you as a member. The Composite Applications category displays portal applications by the type of template on which they are based. Portal applications in the MyClient category are applications that are installed automatically on your client.
In the All category, the Source URL column reflects the protocol of the composite application, the value can be HTTP, Lotus Notes, Local or Bundle. The Installed column shows the installation status of applications. If the column is blank, the application is not installed. Applications listed as Yes are installed. Applications listed as Yes (Restart for update) can still run with the older version but the update won't take effect until the client is restarted. Applications listed as Restart required can be run after the client is restarted.
To open an application, select the application and clicking Open on the action bar, double click the application, or right-click the application and click Open on the context menu. If the application needs provisioning, you will be prompted to restart the client or wait to restart later.
To create a new portal application, click New on the action bar or File > New > Application. A wizard will guide you through the process of creating a new portal application on the portal server. To delete a portal application, select the application, then click Delete on the action bar or context menu. If you do not have the authority to create or delete an application, the New and Delete buttons are not displayed on the action bar.
To uninstall an installed application, select the application, and click Uninstall on the action bar or context menu. You will be prompted to confirm the action.
To reload an already installed application, select the application and click Tools > Reload, or Reload on the context menu. The application will be reloaded.
To open a diagnostic report for the installed composite application, you must enable the report function by adding the following line to the plugin_customization.ini file in Client_Installation_Location/rcp:
com.ibm.rcp.portal.catalog.ui/openCAReportEnabled=true
After restarting the client, you can open a diagnostic report by clicking Tools > Open Diagnostic Report for
To refresh the catalog, click View > Refresh or press F9. To sort the applications, click View > Sort by. The view can also be sorted by each column.
To search for applications, click Search on the action bar. To clear search results, click View > Refresh or press F9.
To view a description of the application, hover over the portal application name.
To view the application URL, hover over the application source URL.
