Previous to Notes 8.5.2, you had the ability to set page access on composite applications on users and roles from the Notes Access Control List.
This limited the amount of flexibility you had when creating composite applications that have multiple components per page and if you wanted to have components on the side bar.
So in Notes 8.5.2 we have restructured the code to provide access controls to other resources based on the XACML pattern. Our first enablement of the implementation of this restructuring is to allow an assembler to also add Domino access controls to components. Under the covers, we also leveraged this new infrastructure for access control to pages too, but the function presented to the assembler is exactly the same.
In order to use this capability you must be editing a composite application in the Composite Application Editor. Open the context menu on a page or a component in the page navigator. There will be an option to “Set Access”. Set Access will present you with a Notes dialog that shows all the users and roles that have been defined for the NSF that the composite application resides in.
Select the users and roles that you want to have access to resources.
Users that open this database and do not have user or role access will not see that resource – page or component – when they launch the composite application.
Note that users with Notes 8.5.1 or earlier will see all resources, as their clients are unable to understand the new access control feature.
