Posting a YouTube video to a Lotus product wiki

This article outlines the process for uploading a video to YouTube and embedding that video in a wiki article.
Follow these instructions to upload a video to YouTube.
- Go to Youtube.com
and log in to your YouTube account using your account information. If you would like to upload your video to the LotusIDC YouTube channel, contact Joyce Davis or Sharyn Richard .
- Click Upload at the top of the screen, select the multimedia file (Up to 2 GB in size; up to 10 mins in length; acceptable file format
), and click OK.
- After the file finishes uploading, complete the Title, Description and tags. Be sure to use the tag "lotustechinfo". Consider including a link back to the Media Gallery in the product wiki for more videos.
- For the category, select Science & Technology.
- Leave the privacy setting Share your video with the world.
- Click Save Changes.
Follow these steps to link to a YouTube video from a wiki article.
- Open the video on the YouTube Web site.
- Place the cursor inside in the Embed field in the video information box as shown below:

- Right-click and copy the HTML code.
- Navigate to one of the Lotus product wikis.
- Log in using your developerWorks username and password.
- Click Add an article on the top, left side of the wiki.
- In the Subject field, add "Video:" at the beginning to indicate the type of deliverable. This extra word complements the use of tags and categories, etc. and give users a visual cue when reading down a long list of articles.
Note:
- The subject of your article will become the URL for the article
- Changing the article's subject will not change the URL once it is created and saved.
- Select the Media Gallery category and any other categories that apply to your video.
- Appropriately tagging the article by product, task, and deliverable type (i.e. demo, video) to make your article easier to find.
- In the main body of the article, type a description for the video, then add instruction text such as:
Click the Play button to start the video.
- Paste the HTML code that you copied in step 3. The HTML code should look similar to the following code:
12. If you have a text version of the video, you can either paste the text version into the wiki article below the embedded video, or create a link to that text version using wiki markup code.
To link to an external page use URL , for example IBM looks like this: IBM .
13. Click Save.
