Domino R8 allows you to use an NSF-based update site. You can use this database to install and update custom or third-party Eclipse features into Notes R8. You can create this database using the UPDATESITE.NTF template. This template dynamically provides the SITE.XML features and plugins.
To create your own update site database.
1. From within Notes client click the "File - Application - New" menu.
2. when the open dialog appears select "Advanced Templates" and then in the database list select "Eclipse Update Site (8)" template. The filename for this template is UPDATESITE.NTF.
3. Enter your filename for your database and Domino server name if desired.
4. Click OK. Your database is now created.
Your client should look like this when you open the database for the first time.
As you see in the top right of the image there are three buttons. A fourth will become available once you have added data. The four actions are as follows.
- Import Local Update Site
Allows you to import the contents of a local Eclipse update sites into the database.
- Import Features
This option gives the ability to import individual features into the NSF-based update site instead of importing a complete Eclipse update site. For example installing one part from a full update site or updating already existing features.
- Import Database
Allows you to import an existing NSF-based update site into the active NSF-based update site.
- Update URL references
This option is only available if the database contains features and plug-ins. You can determine with this that updates come from your NSF-based update site, rather than a source URL that may, for example, be outside your organization's control.
