In CAE, component properties can be edited either for components on the palette or for components that are part of an application. If a component's properties are set for a component on the palette, all instances of this component will inherit these settings. Individual component instances being part of an applications can then be changed directly in the application's component tree. The following two pictures illustrate the two approaches in terms of a component's feature and matching rules as described here
Note: In CAE, the parameter for the feature version is called "version.feature" and the matching rule is represented by the "match.feature" parameter.
