New for Notes R8.0.1 is the feature called My Widgets
. This feature enables end users to see and act on automatically recognized Live Text in their Notes documents. These widgets can also be used within Composite Applications and automatically show up in your Component palette. This page details how to use each kind of widget with this feature.
When you create a widget it is automatically added to your "My palette" list under the "My Widgets" section.Widgets added to a composite application are cached within the application. This is so that users who do not have the widget can use it without having to connect to a widget catalog. All widgets except notes views do not expose properties.
This works the exact same way as a Notes view created by the "Add NSF Component" option in the composite application palette.
Notes Search View
This feature does not work with composite applications. The view will be added and work just the same as the notes view above, however the search will preload with "searchFor" text and attempt a search. It is not possible to pass a property to the search action.
Web page widgets will expose form properties set within the widget as actions. This limits an update to one of the form properties at any time. Multiple updates to form properties at the same time will produce random results. Widget actions are not exposed.
Feeds do not expose any actions. Clicking on a feed item will popup a window with the feed item details. Double clicking the feed item will open the default browser.
While gadgets expose actions it is not possible to force an update as it is cached at Googles servers. There is no guarantee the gadget will ever process anything wired to it. Also note that information sent to the gadget is sent externally to Googles servers.
