I thought it was possible in Domino.Doc to search a PDF File that is attached to a document. However, when I try searching (or using advanced search) whether on the web(using IE) or through the Notes Client (version 5.0.8), for data in a PDF file attachment on a document in binder in a file cabinet, my search results always return 0. If I just search for the document containing the file attachment that search works just fine. I made sure my filecabinet and document databases' indexes were set up properly by following the directions below ("Enabling Full-Text Indexing on Binary Attachments"). Does anybody out there have any suggestions on what else I can do to be able to get search or advanced search to find data in a PDF File attachment on a document or is this impossible?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Viola
Enabling Full-Text Indexing on Binary Attachments
1. Open the document database using the Notes Administrator client.
2. Select the Database Properties option from the File menu.
3. In the Index Options tab, click on the Create Index button.
4. In the “Create Full-Text Index dialog box,” turn on “Index attached files” and select “Binary attachments (more accurate).”
