Installing and administering the XPages Extension Library

Install the extension library on Domino® Designer to provide the necessary plug-ins at design time, and on Domino server and Notes® client to use the plug-ins at runtime.

Obtain and install the following product upgrades as needed from your distribution channel:

• Lotus® Domino Designer 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 1. This upgrade pack includes both Domino Designer and Notes plug-ins.
• Lotus Notes® 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 1. This upgrade pack includes only Notes plug-ins.
• Lotus Domino 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 1. This upgrade pack is for a server.
  
  

Alternatively you can get the plug-ins from http://extlib.openntf.org and manually install them, for example, to obtain experimental features beyond UP1. However, an http://extlib.openntf.org install is not supported. Applying the upgrade pack to 8.5.3 is the recommended process unless experimental features are desired.

Do not install both the upgrade pack and the plug-ins from OpenNTF. If you later want to install an experimental update from OpenNTF over an upgrade pack, uninstall the upgrade pack first.

You must install the plug-ins from http://extlib.openntf.org if you are running Lotus Domino 8.5.2.

You must go to http://extlib.openntf.org for the sample database XPagesExt.nsf. Download the kit and extract the sample database.

These instructions are for using the library as is. If your goal is to contribute to the library, you must install a development environment and connect to the Subversion repository. See the XPages Extension Library Documentation.pdf included in the http://extlib.openntf.org kit.

Getting the upgrade pack from Passport Advantage
The upgrade pack for Domino and Notes is available from Passport Advantage®.

Installing the upgrade pack on Domino Designer and Notes
The upgrade pack adjusts existing installs of Domino Designer and Notes. The Domino Designer upgrade includes the Notes upgrade - do not install both on one machine.

Here are recommendations for mass deployment with tools such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Systems Management Server (SMS).

Getting the install files from OpenNTF
The binary files are available as an OpenNTF project.

Installing the OpenNTF update site in Domino Designer
The library is provided as an Eclipse update site which should be installed using the Eclipse update manager.

Installing the OpenNTF update site on the Domino server
You must unpack the updateSiteOpenNTF.zip to any Domino server on which the extension library runs.
