Installing the upgrade pack on Domino Designer and Notes

The upgrade pack adjusts existing installs of Domino® Designer and Notes®. The Domino Designer upgrade includes the Notes upgrade - do not install both on one machine. |
The upgrade pack adjusts existing installs of Domino® Designer and Notes®. The Domino Designer upgrade includes the Notes upgrade - do not install both on one machine.
- Obtain a copy of the 853UpgradePack1 executable through the distribution channel.
Remember to select the executable from the correct directory depending on whether you are doing a Domino Designer or Notes install.
- Remove all remnants of any beta copies of the extension library including copies installed from OpenNTF.
Note: Skip to the next step if you are sure your machine contains no beta copies of the extension library.
- In File -> Preferences for Domino Designer, check Enable Eclipse plug-in install if it is not already checked.
- In Domino Designer or Notes, click File -> Application -> Application Management.
- Select and uninstall any features for XPages Extension Library, Domino Access Services, and Wink.
- Restart Domino Designer or Notes to complete the uninstall.
- To make sure the features and plug-ins are removed, search the following directories in the Domino Designer or Notes install:
- framework\shared\eclipse\features and framework\shared\eclipse\plugins
- data\domino\workspace\applications\eclipse\features and data\domino\workspace\applications\eclipse\plugins
- data\workspace\applications\eclipse\features and data\workspace\applications\eclipse\plugins
Remove files that contain domino.das, domino.services, wink, or extlib in their names.
- Exit from Domino Designer and Notes.
- For Windows™, do the following:
- Run the 853UpdatePack1 executable.
- On the first dialog, select the second option if you want to save the unpacked install files. You can later install from the unpacked location by running setup.exe.
- Click Next to unpack the install files and start the InstallShield Wizard.
- Follow the wizard to complete the installation.
- ForMacintosh, do the following:
- Untar the installer file.
- Run ext-lib-addon.pkg.
- Follow the dialogs to complete the installation.
- For Linux™ RPM command line, do the following:
- In the directory containing the RPM upgrade pack, type rpm -ih upgradePack1name.rpm.
- For Linux RPM interactive, do the following:
- Right-click the RPM download and select Open with Software Installer.
- Select the package and click Apply.
- If the error message Unable to verify upgradePack appears, click Install anyway.
- When the Software installed successfully message appears, click OK.
- For Linux Debian command line, do the following:
- In the directory containing the Debian upgrade pack, type sudo dpkg -i upgradePackname.deb.
- For Linux Debian interactive, do the following:
- Right-click the Debian download and select Open with GDebi Software Installer.
- Click Install Package.
- When the Installation finished message appears, click Close.
- Upon successful completion of the install:
- Your system contains the following program: Lotus Notes 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 1. The name is the same for both Domino Designer and Notes.
- Your Domino Designer or Notes install contains additional plug-ins for:
- Domino Access Services (DAS)
- Domino Wink
- Extension Library feature Group 1 localization pack
- Extension Library feature Group 2 localization pack
- Extension Library feature Group 3 localization pack
- XPages Extension Library
- XPages Extension Library Designer Feature (Domino Designer only)
- XPages Extension Library Designer Install Feature (Domino Designer only)
- XPages Extension Library Install Handler Feature
- XPages Extension Library Source (Domino Designer only)
- For Domino Designer only, if the source files are needed, import them as follows:
- In Domino Designer, change to the Java™ perspective (Window -> Open Perspective -> Java).
- Right-click under the Package Explorer tab and select Import.
- Expand Plug-in Development, select Plug-ins and Fragments, and click Next.
- Under Import As, select Projects with source folders, and click Next.
- Filter the list of plug-ins and fragments by entering com.ibm.xsp.ext. Optionally you can select only the plug-ins of interest.
- Click Add All.
- Click Finish.
Eclipse imports the selected plug-ins, creating projects and source folders.
- For Windows uninstall, do the following:
- Open Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
- Remove Lotus Notes 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 1.
- For Macintosh uninstall, do the following:
- Add the following line to framework\rcp\plugin_customization.ini
- In Notes, click File -> Application -> Application Management.
- Select and uninstall the following features:
Apache Wink Feature
Domino Access Services (DAS)
Domino Sample REST Service Feature
Extended Components Library for XPages Extension Feature
Extension library feature
- Restart Domino Designer or Notes to complete the uninstall.
