Checkbox Group

I am using checkbox group in xpages and the checkbox group value is computed. I tried all methods to retrieve the checked values from checkbox but nothing worked. I used the following method : getComponent(“Checkboxlist”).getAttributes().values() and it returns empty array. Anyone has any better ideas ? Please help

It isn't clear from the text or screen captures, but label2 needs to go inside helloPanel, or else it won't get updated by the button.

This is what I call a concise tutorial. is like "Do it, and leave your brain to process what it's happening". Perfect.

Re: Tutorial: Introduction to XPages - Exercise 2

Everything worked fine up until the last channge. Once I change from Full to Partial Update, nothing worked. Everything displayed properly, but when I put text in the yourName box and hit the button - nada. The screen stayed the same.

Now I have no idea what to do next.

Re: Tutorial: Introduction to XPages - Exercise 2

I realize this s more than two years old but I am learning xpages now and this was my fix for the above problem: (with the help of this video - http://jvjardin.wordpress.com/2011/09/06/xpages-video-tutorial-what-domino-designer-is-not-telling-you/)

var txtControlValue:com.ibm.xsp.component.xp.XspInputText = getComponent("yourName");

var txtLabel1:com.ibm.xsp.component.xp.XspOutputLabel=getComponent("label1");

txtLabel1.setValue("Hello " + txtControlValue.getValue())

compositeData.iknowyou = true;

Now the damned thing works!

So what is the purpose of a custom property?

Why use it? Also, this is alien territory for me so going to all the places to create a simple button is very strange.

Need more explanation on why things are done.. instead of the "monkey see.. monkey do" mentality.

and my works, but I have no freaking idea why!!!

I think the tutorial idea is great, but something is missing here, I cannot get this to work. I have tried many things to no avail.

Please feel free to contact me to help if you are willing.

Custom Control

Hi,

Can someone let me know how the custom control works?

I left it as a string when I created it first (with no default value), and the effect was the same.

Thanks,

Brian

Had the same problem

Hi Gustavo,

I had the same problem.

You just need to change the name of the edit box to "yourName".

Its not mentioned in the steps. :)

Gustavo F Pagotto commented on Sep 29, 2009

It's not working for me... Please Help!

I can't find the method getValue() for the expression:

var txtControlValue = getComponent("yourName").getValue();

The only method that appears to me is the getValueBinding()... If I try to force the method, I get a runtime error... I can't complete the tutorial... Does someone knows what needs to be done to have this method configured for use?

Thank you!

Best regards,

Gustavo.
