Using Lotus Notes 8.5 without Lotus Domino. Configuring POP3 and SMTP.

This is useful and correct - but there are some significant issues which you don't have with MS Outlook or other clients.

Firstly, the mailfile created is a very old format - Notes 5 I think, and that's a bit clunky to say the least.

Secondly, in MS Outlook and all other SMTP Mail clients like Thunderbird and others, when you add another mail account, it simply adds another mailbox to the existing 'Tree' of mailboxes in the client. Making a separate mailbox in this way doesn't allow you to view several accounts in one place.

It does work, but it isn't very flexible to use and nothing remotely as flexible as the Microsoft 'opposition' mail client offering.

What about using (an internet mail) IMAP in Offline mode?

Thanks
