DB2, Domino, and DB2NSF setup on a Windows operating system normally works without issue. However, setting up the environment on AIX can be sensitive and may cause problems if exact steps are not followed.

Attempting to install a DB2 and Domino setup using DALD "(Db2 Access for Lotus Domino) we faced the following problems:

1. Ensure that we use the exact path names as specified in the supplied documentation for:
a. AIX Users
b. AIX Groups
c. Domino Users involved

2. Following the exact sequence of Installation (example):
a. Domino Server
b. Db2 Server
c. DB2 Access for Lotus Domino

3. “Enable Server for Db2” is greyed out, as are all other options. If using “Menu > Configuration > DB2 Server > Enable Server for Db2”, this option is not greyed out. (Once the server is enabled, you should be able to see the remaining option as normal).

4. We were unable to make the system work on multiple machines. (Domino server on one LPAR and DB2 Server on the other LPAR).

The following error message is generated. The error is generic and it can be very difficult to diagnose the root cause.

Ensure that you following the exact steps including Path names in the following file:

(See attached file: Installation steps for test setup of DALD on AIX.doc)

1. Ensure that we use the exact path names as specified in the supplied documentation for:
a. AIX Users

2. Following the exact sequence of Installation (example):

3. The Model that we managed to get working is as follows and on the machine / LPAR.
