The Notes ID vault works wherever you are! Beginning in Lotus Domino 8.5.1, you can enable IBM Lotus Notes API programs, such as Lotus iNotes, Lotus Notes Traveler, and RIM Blackberry, to use an ID vault and take advantage of its ID management features. This feature can be enabled in the ID Vault tab in a security policy.

FAQ
Can I use the Notes ID vault with other programs?
The Notes ID vault has been integrated with and tested for Lotus iNotes, Lotus Notes Traveler, and RIM Blackberry.
In 8.5.2, you can use the new SDK C-APIs SECidfPut, SECidfGet, and SECidfSync to integrate the ID vault with your program. Download the Lotus C API toolkit from IBM developerWorks.
I am an admin and have set up the ID vault. My users are using iNotes but I do not think the ID files in the vault and the ID files in the mail database are synchronizing. What's wrong?
First, check that the ID vault has been configured correctly and the ID vault server is running.
To enable the use of ID vault for Lotus iNotes users, you must enable the "Allow Notes-based programs to use the Notes ID vault" setting on the ID Vault tab of the Security Settings policy document.
Synchronization of ID files happens automatically when necessary as soon as a user provides the correct password (as reflected in the ID vault) to perform a secure mail operation to an 8.51 or higher mail server, such as sending a signed message or reading an encrypted message.
