Since release Domino 6 was launched, there
have been several enhancements to Domino HTTP task. All Internet views
(Design property) were indexed by the HTTP task. In fact, the UPDALL task
does not rebuild view indexes if these views are not used by the Notes
The counter-part of this property is that the UPDALL task is not concerned
anymore with rebuilding the view index for such elements. But the main
problem is that HTTP is less efficient in view index rebuilding. So if
Web applications are getting slower, the first step is - for the administrator
- to verify if the design element is hidden from Notes users.
So if you are migrating from Domino 5 to Domino 8 and you have slow performance
on Web applications, it is not due to the Domino 8 migration but to properties
of design elements. Designers should take great care about that and use
hidden views instead of design property. The graphic below shows a badly-set
property for a Web view - in this case, the designer should not use the
'Hide design element from' property that way.
