In Lotus iNotes 8.5, the integrated Sametime instant messaging is only available in full mode. You can now work in your mail file to know other user's availability status and chat with them. There are enhanced context menus to change your status and edit your status message, show Samtime contact list and options to control what would be shown for your contact list.
If you are already using the Sametime via either Sametime Connect Client or Lotus Notes Integrated Samtime Client, you already have a Sametime contact list in the Sametime server. Lotus iNotes Sametime client will pull the Sametime contact list from Sametime server and make any changes on the Sametime server to make a seamless Sametime contact list available for you regardless of your client.
Sametime 7.5 server or above will no longer ship with Sametime connect for browsers (also known as the Java Connect Client). Version 7.0 Connect for browsers can be deployed on a Sametime 7.5 server or above as a workaround. See the Lotus Software Knowledge Base Document:

Note: If you are using Domino Web Access 6.5.x and your instant contact list is stored in your mail file, you can send your contact list to the Sametime server before your mail file is upgraded to Domino Web Access 8.
