MailBoxDisableTXNLogging=1 will enable new MAIL.BOX files to be created with transaction logging disabled via the database advanced property.
Background: Even if the advanced property "Disable Transaction Logging" is set on the mailbox.ntf template, and a new MAIL.BOX database is created from this template, the property "Disable Transaction Logging" is NOT set on the new database made from the template. The "Disable Transaction Logging" property is not inherited from templates intentionally. Instead, this setting must be set on a per-database basis. When MailBoxDisableTXNLogging=1 the router will create MAIL.BOX databases with transaction logging disabled.
This setting does not disable transaction logging for existing databases, only MAIL.BOX databases created by the router after this setting has been enabled. Manually created database will not have transaction logging disabled.
This setting is absent by default. The absence of this setting has the same effect as the setting being disabled with a value of "0". Newly created MAIL.BOX files will have logging enabled by default as a database property.
Completely remove this setting from Domino servers, versions 8.5 and higher. Significant performance improvement work has been included in D8.5 such that this option is no longer a high leverage configuration. The D8.5 DAOS feature works more efficiently with mail.box transaction logging enabled.
For Domino versions below 8.5, disable transaction logging on MAIL.BOX databases. Setting MailBoxDisableTXNLogging=1 so that newly create MAIL.BOX files will have transaction logging disabled. This will help avoid routing delays on busy mail servers.
This setting is available on Domino version 6.0.3 and 6.5.1 and beyond.
Starting with Domino 8.5, the benefits of this setting has been negated due to mail.box transaction logging performance improvements.
LOG_DISABLETXNLOGGING, SCHEDULE_DISABLETXNLOGGING, RM_NO_LOG_OBJECTS_IN_MAILBOX
RM_No_Log_Objects_In_Mailbox=1 disables transaction logging for all mail.box files, no matter what their database property is set to. Using this setting ensures that mail.box transaction logging is disabled during execution.
MAILBOXDISABLETXNLOGGING=1 disables transaction logging in a mail.box file when the file is automatically created by the server. Using this option ensures the setting of the database property for newly created mail.box files, but not for preexisting files.
If you want to disable transaction logging for mail.box files, use both of these setting so that 1) the logging is disabled for all cases, and 2) the database properties are consistent with the run-time behavior, thereby reducing opportunity for confusion.
