Modify All Names Fields and Modify All Reader and Author Fields

According to the IBM people at the Premier Support seminar...

The Domino server code already knows how to handle renames regardless of this setting.

The NAB, Admin4 + Mail databases should not be adjusted from 'Do Not Modify Name Fields'

As long as there is an Administration server set, the renames will be processed.

Only when specifically using databases with Reader/Author Fields would you want to start using this feature to distinguish the process that occurs.

Group members will be handled. They are here.

Modify All Names Fields and Modify All Reader and Author Fields - What do I set in the Domino Directory?

Could something bedone in the ($Adminp) view to avoid renaming/deletion of people who saved policies and parameters.

aka: if you remove/rename an admin who left the company we encountered many problems with new Notes clients installation and for existing clients too.

How about old names in Groups? commented on Nov 7, 2007

Modify All Names Fields and Modify All Reader and Author Fields - What do I set in the Domino Directory?

The main reason I would want it to process the database is to rename users in the groups.

I think we should make a wish list to protect the UserNames field in the address book, or better have an exception handling. I know of several apps which have problems when people are deleted from the NAB, which might remove their name from field on documents. Being able to specify exceptions would be great.

Please post your wish list items as a response to this document.
