When running a Notes silent install on Windows, the default MSI log file is standard, not verbose. Use the following command line syntax, in combination with whatever other silent install parameters you might be using, to start a verbose log file.
Important Note: If the location where the log file is to be placed does not exist, Notes will not install.
Command line syntax is as below:
setup /v"L*v verbose.log"
msiexec /i" Lotus Notes 8.0.1.msi" /L*v verbose.log"
For example, start the Notes installer using the following command line in the verbose mode and specify a log file name:
setup /v"/lv* c:\temp\install.log"
You can also set a registry value to always generate an MSI log file for each Notes install and uninstall. To do so, create a registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer with String Value Logging=voicewarmup. This will create an MSI log file in your
directory with the file extension ".log" for all MSI (Windows) installations
