The NSF_DBCACHE_CLEAN_HOLD_TIME setting in notes.ini was introduced with
Domino 7.0. This setting controls how long an entry is allowed to remain
in the database cache. The default is 10,000 minutes (6.6 days).
Database entries are removed from cache when the cache entry count exceeds
the value reported by the Domino statistic named Database.DbCache.MaxEntries
or when they have been inactively in the cache for more than NSF_DBCACHE_CLEAN_HOLD_TIME.
NSF_DBCACHE_CLEAN_HOLD_TIME can be set to some value less than 10,000.
This might be desired to reduce cache memory demands. A value of 0 causes
the default (10,000) value to be in effect. A value of -1 causes the cache
behavior to revert to pre-Domino 7 behavior.
Very small value for NSF_DBCACHE_CLEAN_HOLD_TIME may cause undesirable
There is no single value that is right for every server. Rather, correct
values for this setting are dependent on the host server and the desired
goal. Servers with abundant memory will likely experience performance improvements
with higher values for this setting. Conversly, lower values will conserve
memory at the cost of performance. Values that are too low will likely
cause performance problems.
