NSF_DbCache_Disable

expanded Abstract
collapsed Abstract
No abstract provided.
Explanation:
The Domino server maintains a database cache to improve performance by keeping recently used files open for quicker access, avoiding constant disk reads and writes. This cache is disabled by setting NSF_DBCache_Disable=1 in the server notes.ini.

Default:
By default, the database cache is enabled.

Recommendation:
Do not disable the database cache. Doing so leads to increased I/O activity and a corresponding drop in server performance.  If NSF_DbCache_Disable is set either in the notes.ini or the notes.ini section of the configuration document, remove it.

Restrictions:
None.

Restarts:
The server does not need to be restarted after removing this setting.

  • Managing the database cache

Domino Configuration Tuner:
This setting is included in the DCT catalog of best practices.
