Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format (TNEF) is a Microsoft standard for
tunneling rich data over the Internet to a recipient. IBM Lotus Domino
uses the TNEF Converter feature (enabled with the setting of TNEFEnableConversion=1)
to extract file attachments from the TNEF stream and include the Rich Text
content inside the message. By default, the TNEF Converter discards the
intermediate RTF content when it successfully completes the conversion.
The intermediate content can be retained as an attachment to the message.
Include TNEFAttachRTF=1 in NOTES.INI to enable this behavior. The attachment
name will be message_body.rtf.
The TNEF Converter is built into the Domino SMTP task. TNEFEnableConversion=1
must exist in order for TNEFAttachRTF=1 to take effect.
When this option is absent or set to 0 this behavior is disabled.
Leave this option disabled such that the intermediate RTF content is discarded.
This Domino feature became available in versions 6.5.6 and 7.02.
TNEFBreakSMIME, TNEFConverter_Log_Level, TNEFKeepAttachment, TNEFEnableConversion
to messages received from the Internet are named as winmail.dat
