The UPDATE task will periodically refresh database view indices. By doing
so the indices are more likely to represent the current documents. Setting
UPDATE_NO_VIEWS=1 will prevent automatic index updates via UPDATE. An alternative
configuration is UPDATE_DISABLE_VIEWS=1, which is a slightly less aggressive
disablement. Using either of these settings may significantly increase
the time to open a database or view.
There is no UI equivalent for these configuration setting.
When absent, the UPDATE task will periodically refresh indices. This default
behavior is equivalent to UPDATE_NO_VIEWS=0
Preventing automatic index updates will reduce CPU demands. However, some
applications that expect up-to-date view information may not work as expected.
When UPDATE_NO_VIEWS=1, be sure UPDALL is configured to run so that indices
don't get too far out-of-date.
Valid on all Domino platforms.
Valid for Domino versions 7.0 and beyond.
Changes to UPDATE_NO_VIEWS & UPDATE_DISABLE_VIEWS are noticed immediately.
