A Full-text Index (FTI) provides for improved searching of a Lotus Notes/Domino database.  However, there are known limitations to the Lotus Notes/Domino full-text index engine, as detailed below.

Known Issues
  • The "Last Index Time" available under the Full Text tab of the Database Properties is only updated in two possible scenarios:
  1. Upon creation of the initial FTI for the database.
  2. When the Update task runs and adds new documents to the index.
  • Categories are not searchable until a database has a Full-text Index.
  • Reserved Full-text Syntax words and characters used for the full-text search engine.  A search on these words or characters can only be accomplished by placing them inside double quotes, either individually or in a phrase.
