|Set a mail alert preference, to let you know right away when you have new mail messages in your inbox.

|1.2||By default, Notes will display new mail alerts as a slide-in summary on your screen. If you like this option, you don’t need to make any preference changes.||Screen displays a Notes teamroom application with several documents. When new mail arrives in the Notes inbox, a new mail slide-in summary box appears at the bottom of the Teamroom screen, detailing the new mail summary.|
|1.3||If you want to change how you are notified of new mail, open preferences and go to the Mail -> Sending and Receiving options.||Click File -> Preferences -> Mail -> Sending and Receiving.|
|1.4||Select an option. You can choose to play a sound, display a pop-up box, or get no alert notification at all. You can also choose to see a notification in your system tray.||Click the Show a popup option. Uncheck and then check the Display an icon in the system tray option.|
|1.5||Now, you’ll know you have new email as soon as it arrives!||Screen displays a Notes teamroom application with several documents. Now when new mail arrives in the Notes inbox, a pop-up box appears on-screen, detailing the new mail summary.|
