By default, Notes will display new mail alerts as a slide-in summary on your screen. If you like this option, you don’t need to make any preference changes.
Screen displays a Notes teamroom application with several documents. When new mail arrives in the Notes inbox, a new mail slide-in summary box appears at the bottom of the Teamroom screen, detailing the new mail summary.
If you want to change how you are notified of new mail, open preferences and go to the Mail -> Sending and Receiving options.
Click File -> Preferences -> Mail -> Sending and Receiving.
Select an option. You can choose to play a sound, display a pop-up box, or get no alert notification at all. You can also choose to see a notification in your system tray.
Click the Show a popup option. Uncheck and then check the Display an icon in the system tray option.
Now, you’ll know you have new email as soon as it arrives!
