Community articleDEBUG_PD_NAGLE_OFF & EnableNagle: the Nagle algorithm should be disabled

Tags: Best Practice
Explanation:
The TCP Nagle algorithm has undesired interaction with NRPC. The 'DEBUG_PD_NAGLE_OFF' setting will explicitly disable the Nagle algorithm. The 'EnableNagle' setting will explicitly enable the Nagle Algorithm.

Default:

Prior to Domino 8.5 the algorithm is on by default.
As of 8.5 the algorithm is off by default.

Recommendation:

Prior to Domino 8.5, have DEBUG_PD_NAGLE_OFF=1 and EnableNagle absent from NOTES.INI.
For Domino 8.5 and beyond, have both DEBUG_PD_NAGLE_OFF and EnableNagle absent from NOTES.INI.

Restrictions:

This is an issue for all platforms, except Windows. There is no measurable difference under Windows when this setting is on or off.
