Thoughts on Lotus software and collaborative applications, design, and Designer, by Chris Reckling.

I have backlog of blog topics to do, but it's been incredibly busy. The pace is likely to get faster leading up to Lotusphere since I'm on the (Opening General Session) OGS demo team. That's a topic for another day and another tease since I can't really tell you what will be in it.

For now, congrats to the Sametime team for delivering Sametime 8. Lotus Sametime Entry is a new solution that is similar to the IM only license that Notes users have today. So, if you just want IM, then you have a place to start. Lotus Sametime Standard is all the functionality that you have today with ST 7.5.1 and includes Web Conferences, VoIP, mobile, etc.

There are a bunch of enhancements, large and small in Sametime 8. Check them out here. My team worked on this, prioritizing usability enhancements and making minor design updates across the board (in fact, those screen shots look awfully familiar). Another handy platform enhancement is installing on Domino 8 and better Mac support.

Adam has more on his blog.
