A default IBM Connections implementation offers a certain number of data fields (attributes) for People, and a default layout of those attributes. A customized implementation of IBM Connections can have additional attributes added, and provide a modified layout.

Through use of examples, in this section, we show you how to add a new attribute to profiles and to the layout of Profiles pages.

IBM Connections provides a default Profile type to show all profiles in the same way, you can customize the IBM Connections to show Profiles differently depending on the defined Profile types. We illustrate this by examples.

This section discuss the following topics:
5.1 Adding an attribute field to Profiles
5.2 Specifying labels for attributes
5.3 Populating custom extension attributes
5.4 Populating custom fields with IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator
5.5 Profiles attributes
5.6 Adding profile types
5.7 Adding widgets
5.8 Customizing login attributes
5.9 Customizing Profiles search
5.10 Sametime integration
