About this task
To set up an authentication alias with user credentials from the common LDAP between IBM
Connections and Portal, follow these steps:
In a network environment, you must create the alias in the WebSphere
® Application Server Integrated Solutions Console for the Deployment Manager.
- In the WebSphere Application Server Integrated Solutions Console, expand Security, and then select Global Security.
- Expand Java Authentication and Authorization Service.
- Select J2C authentication data.
- Click New and specify the alias name and the user credentials for a user from the common LDAP between IBM Connections and Portal.
If you are deploying on Portal 188.8.131.52, make sure Prefix new alias names with the node name of the cell is checked before creating the alias. If you are deploying on Portal 8, Prefix new alias names with the node name of the cell can be de-selected. However, if it is de-selected, you must make sure that the alias name in the directory.services.xml does not have the prefix. For more information on configuring the directory.services.xml file, see the topic Configuring portlets to use common directory services.
Note: This user must be assigned the dsx-admin role in Connections for the Communities application. For more information, see the topic Roles.
- Click OK and Save.
After you have created the authentication alias, you will see the alias prefixed with the WebSphere
cell name. For example:
|<cellname>/dsxAdmin || connectionsAdmin|
on a Portal 8 server, the alias is prefixed with the node name. for example, <nodename>/dsxAdmin.
