When you make configuration changes, you use scripts to check out the Bookmarks configuration file, make changes, and then check the file back in.
When you use administrative commands to control the operation of a Bookmarks server, no file checkout is necessary and your changes take effect immediately.
Accessing the Bookmarks configuration file
To make configuration changes to a Bookmarks deployment you must first access the Bookmarks configuration file.
Running Bookmarks administrative commands
Run administrative commands from the wsadmin command line to directly interact with Bookmarks. You do not have to check out files or restart the server for changes to take effect.
Filtering active content
The active content filter prevents a user from embedding malicious content in Bookmarks input fields. You configure Bookmarks settings using scripts accessed using the wsadmin client. These scripts use the AdminConfig object available in WebSphere
® Application Server Admin (wsadmin) to interact with the Bookmarks configuration file. Changes to Bookmarks configuration settings require node synchronization and a restart of the Bookmarks server before they take effect.
Changing view and link thresholds
Use these configuration settings to change view and link thresholds for a Bookmarks deployment.
Configuring favicons and changing the default favicon
Use these settings to configure favicons or replacing the default favicon for a Bookmarks deployment.
Determining whether a site is an internet or intranet site
Establish a URL pattern in a Bookmarks configuration file to indicate whether a site is an internet or an intranet site.
As the Bookmarks administrator, you can remove broken or unwanted links, and configure what behavior is available to users for managing broken links.
Restrict link redirects
You can restrict link redirects to allow users to directly access URLs. This is an optional configuration change.
Specifying a list of fonts and colors users can use for bookmark lists
If you want to limit the allowable fonts users can use when embedding bookmarks in a web page to to a list you specify, create a white list. If a white list is enabled, only the fonts specified can be used to display a list of bookmarks in a web page.
Managing multiple Bookmark buttons
If you are creating bookmarks on more than one server, you may have to rename your Bookmarks browser buttons to avoid conflicts.
