Global scopes include extensions that all customers can see. For example, consider a partner company that deploys a SmartCloud for Social Business application that provides a document signing service. The company administrator can add a menu option so that users can sign documents directly in the UI. Specifically, the administrator can define an extension to the file_menu extension point that adds an option to sign documents in the More Actions
menu. In this case, the menu item is available to any user whose company has enabled the company with the document signing service.
Partners are required to call IBM Customer Support Group (CSG) to create global extensions.
Organization scopes include extensions that are seen only by members of individual companies. For example, if Company XYZ purchases a SmartCloud for Social Business account, and the administrator in that same company defines a set of extensions, only users in Company XYZ can see those extensions in the UI. Users from other companies will not be able to see those extensions.
