This course provides an introduction to IBM Forms and IBM Forms Designer 4.0. The first module explains how to use the Eclipse-based Designer, and how to design basic XFDL forms. The second module provides an introduction to XForms structures and concepts in IBM Forms. Module 3 introduces advanced XFDL and form design concepts, including the underlying structure of IBM Forms and the XFDL language including syntax, referencing, compute structure and other more advanced topics. Module 4 introduces advanced XForms concepts, including XForms structure, binds, actions, and the XForms event model.
Duration
This course takes approximately 3 days to deliver.
Audience
This course is targeted to Form Designers, System Architects, and Application Developers.
Prerequisites
To ensure your success, we recommend you have the following equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience:
• Proficiency with Windows XP/7.
• Basic understanding of form design concepts.
• Basic understanding of markup languages.
Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:
· Describe the basic products within the IBM Forms toolset.
· Understand the Eclipse development environment and be able to customize as appropriate.
· Understand the components of the IBM Forms Viewer and set preferences as needed.
· Recognize and understand the syntactical fundamentals of the XFDL language
· Build simple XFDL forms.
· Apply advanced XFDL concepts.
· Build simple XForms forms.
· Recognize and understand the fundamentals of XPath
· Apply advanced XForms concepts.
· Choose between XFDL and XForms.
