In some cases you will need to add rules to uniquely match a target. This occurs when the default match rules cause "ambiguous" matching. Ambiguous matching means that multiple targets are identified by the same set of match rules.
Ambiguous matching often occurs when OpenSpan identifies a target as a generic control.
When you need to add another match rule to help identify the target, make sure the target is highlighted and then scroll through the Match Rules drop-down text box on the Match Rules pane. When the Match Rule that you want to add displays, select it. Then click the New button next to the Match Rules drop-down text box.
The Match Rule will be added to the list on the Match Rules pane.
Click the Refresh Matching
button in the Targets
pane to see if adding the new rule helped to uniquely identify the target.
