Diagnostics - Log Categories 

The following table lists the log categories that appear in the Diagnostics Configuration window.  These settings work for all logging messages output through the File Publisher.

All Categories	All logged categories.
Adapters	Logs general adapter information (for example, when it starts or stops).
Attribute Provider	OpenSpan internal use.
Cloned Instance Broker	OpenSpan internal use.
Component Inspector	OpenSpan internal use.
Configuration	OpenSpan internal use.
Connectable Index	OpenSpan internal use.
Default	Logs associated with any category not otherwise specified in this list.
Default Value	OpenSpan internal use.
Diagnostic Initialization	OpenSpan internal use.
EventLog	OpenSpan internal use.
File Management	OpenSpan internal use.
Java Adapter	Logging for Java applications or embedded applets.
Java-OSCContainer	Logging for the OpenSpan Scripting Container AppContainer.
Java-OSCPropertyProxy	Logging for the OpenSpan Scripting Container DynamicProxy objects.  These objects are used to implement the scripting symbols for adapters, native controls, Property Broker properties, and extended functions.
Java-OSCScriptEngine	Logging for the OpenSpan Scripting Container scripting engine.  This is the object that sets up and executes the scripts.
Java-OSCView	Logging for the OpenSpan Scripting Container ViewPart.
Java-OWCActivator	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container plug-in Activator.
Java-OWCCLRShimExpeditorBridgeShim	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container CLR shim.
Java-OWCContainer	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container AppContainer.
Java-OWCDotNetDynamicProxy	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container DynamicProxy objects.  These objects are used by OWC to access .NET objects.
Java-OWCInterrogationHelper	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container interrogation helper.  This helper is used by either simple or advanced interrogation.
Java-OWCInterrogationTab	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container interrogation tab.  This is the tab that replaces the Landmarks tab on the Edit Component Properties dialog.
Java-OWCPrereqsActivator	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container prereqs plug-in activator.
Java-OWCProxyService	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container proxy service.
Java-OWCProxyServiceClassLoader	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container proxy service class loader.
Java-OWCView	Logging for the OpenSpan Windows Container ViewPart.
Keys	Logging for the cloning of controls, which involves the generation of keys.
Matching	Logging associated with matching automation controls to targets.  This control applies to all adapter types.
Runtime	OpenSpan internal use.
Security	Logging for OpenSpan Security features.
Serialization	Logging for the serialization of DesignComponents to and from XmlText.
Threading	OpenSpan internal use.
Transformer	OpenSpan internal use.
Type Reference	OpenSpan internal use.
Type Resolution	OpenSpan internal use.
User Data	OpenSpan internal use.
Web Adapter	Logging for the Web adapter.
Windows Adapter	Logging for the Microsoft Windows adapter.
Windows Messages	Logs associated with the use windows messages.  These logs are invoked when windows messages are sent or received from a target application process.  Change the log level to Verbose to see messages for this category.

Log settings

Each Log Category can be set to one of five settings.  These settings function in a hierarchy from Verbose, which logs the most information, to Error, which logs only errors.

Setting	Description
Error	This setting records only error messages related to the category.
Warning	This setting records both warning and error messages related to the category.
Info	This setting records informational messages and warning and error messages.
Verbose	This setting records all messages: error, warning, and informational.
Off	The setting turns off the recording of information pertaining to this log category.
