This sample demonstrates the usage of Java™ Server Pages (JSPs) within a Web application intended for deployment on the local Web Container. The sample application is a Hello World application that is deployed to a Windows Mobile device.
Even though this sample is included in the Desktop samples, it may be run on devices. To do so, simply import the sample into an IDE configured with the Lotus Expeditor Toolkit for Devices.
From the IDE, you can launch the eWorkbench application to test the sample.
But this testing lacks the native look and feel of the device.
Deploying a Device Emulator
To begin, download and install the Windows Mobile 6.1 SDK
. After installation, launch an emulator to begin installing the Expeditor Client for Device. Then mount the installation media to begin installation. The device installation location varies from version to version. In 6.2.1, the installation files may be separate from the Client for Desktop. Generally speaking, locate the "device" folder which contains the Client for Device installation files.
Use the file explorer to access the storage card's installation files and complete the installation.
Running Expeditor on the Device
To launch Expeditor, simply access programs and the Lotus Expeditor shortcut.
Next, add additional updates to support running the sample. Previously, you mounted the Client for Desktop installation files. Configure the shared folder to the updates folder in the device installation. This contains additional components not deployed by default. Launch Application Manager, and Install New Applications and Features. Click Add Location -> Local -> and select the updates folder (it should be selected by default).
Then select the Web Application Components from the Update Manager UI.
Finally, click next and accept the license agreement.
Details on the sample may be found in the Lotus Expeditor 6.2 Infocenter
Running the Sample
Deploying applications to devices may be done in a variety of ways - directly by the user or indirectly from a managed solution such as Expeditor server. In this case, you will install using the same approach used to install the Web Application Components previously.
First, create a feature and update site in your workspace.
Mount the update site's location to the device using the Configure menu.
Finally, install the hello feature by again using Application Manager. You can re-use the existing Storage Card update site we had created previously.
Lastly, simply run the sample application from Expeditor.
