|Use the Collect Data task to perform data collection.
Use the Collect Data task to perform data collection.
- If the IBM® Support Assistant is not already open, in the Lotus Expeditor workbench, choose Help -> Support -> IBM Support Assistant .
- Open the Analyze Problem activity:
From the Launch Activity button, select Analyze Problem from the available activities.
- Select the Collect Data tab.
- Select a product and a problem type:
Before the data collection can be performed, you must first select a product and problem type. In the initial view, the product and problem types tree is collapsed to show only its top-level folders. You can expand the top-level folders to reveal the folders nested below them. Continue expanding folders until the problem type you want is revealed, then highlight it. The System collector is always available in the product list. Select System collector if you want to collect system information instead of product specific information. Products will show up in the product selection tree only if you installed their corresponding product add-ons. Problem type helps the Data Collector know what data to collect. Select the problem type that most closely matches your problem. If unsure, select the most general problem type.
- Click Add.
This will add the data collection to the collector queue.
- Add additional data collections to the collector queue:
Optionally repeat the previous steps to create data collections for additional products and problems. All data collections will be added to the collector queue.
- Start data collection:
Click on Collect all. This will run all the data collections in the collector queue sequentially. The first data collection in the collector queue will start first. When the first data collection is completed, the next data collection in the collector queue starts running and so on until all data collections are completed.
- Provide required information about product:
The Data Collector may need certain information about the product before it starts collecting and during the collection. This additional information is needed by the Data Collector to complete its collection activities. For example, the Data Collector might ask you for product installation directory, for additional configuration information, for information about the sequence of events leading up to the problem you are dealing with, or for your preferences regarding how it should complete the collection. Required information can vary from product to product. Some products do not require any information. Respond to the requests for information or actions, if any. Once it has all the information it needs, the script will proceed with the remainder of the collection. The Data Collector will notify you when it has finished collecting data and will display the name of output file.
